FAQs

Template Compatibility

While our templates have coding specific to Expression Web and Dreamweaver, you can use our templates in a wide variety of HTML editing software programs. Most editors will simply ignore those bits of code.

[Expression Web does add vti_cfn and vti_pvt files; however, Dreamweaver ignores them. Their presence or absence does not affect the web at all. If you prefer your template not contain .dwt templates or other proprietary code, just let us know. We can remove those parts and then email you the revised template files. We can usually do this within one business day.

Can I change the template's colors, add pages, etc.?

Each template is different. While font colors can be easily changed by editing the CSS file, other color areas may be images, especially in older templates.

On newer templates, all colors (even the gradients) can be changed within the CSS file. For templates that have a patterned background, you can replace our tiling background image with one of your own. We recommend reading through the "live preview" for specific details. If you need more details, just send us an email and we will be happy to help.

You can add additional pages, delete pages you do not need, and even rename pages to be better suited to your site. We have tutorials on our Help Center covering these topics.

What about the images used in the templates?

Your template may contain watermarked images or photos provided by third-party providers. We have obtained permission to incorporate these images within the template as a sample of what your site might look like.

If you wish to use these same images for your web site, you are required to purchase the non-watermarked version directly from the vendor. We can also assist you with image licensing and/or license images for you to use on your web site.

What are "Responsive" templates?

"Responsive" refers to templates that can adapt their size depending on whether you are viewing the site on a mobile phone, a tablet like the iPad or Kindle Fire, a laptop, or a desktop computer. A visitor to your site who is using a small device, like a cell phone or a tablet, will see the site differently but can still access most, if not all, of your site's information. While a template can cover most instances where items should expand and contract, you may have a specific image or element that requires a bit of extra help. Just let us know and we can walk you though how to adapt it for your needs.

Do the templates come with instructions?

Absolutely! Every template comes with an instructions page. Newer templates also come with a Typography page (for how headings, etc. look), an Imagery page showing how to float images to the left or right, with or without a border, and much more. We also often include a Grid page that shows how to place 2, 3, or 4 columns in a row that sit side by side.

Where can I find more help on editing the template?

We have a Help Center that contains dozens of tutorials to help with the different aspects of your site. You will find some basic information, some tutorials that are specific to Expression Web, a full section named "Editing", some fun Tips and Tricks, plus some tutorials on the basics of CSS.

If you can't find your answer there, just drop us an email or give us a call. Check our Contact page for email address and phone number. We will do our best to help.

Is your support free or can I pay for extra help if I need it?

We offer 30 days of free support for problems related to your template functioning correctly, if you have an error in downloading the template, or if you have general questions. Anything else is beyond the scope of a template sale. We do however offer paid tutoring sessions and custom services. If you do need specialized help, don't worry. Our rates are very reasonable.

How long will a template work?

Our templates do not have an expiration date and they will not "time out." However, at some point in time, browser technology will outgrow the elements used in any template. As a general rule, we have found that templates will remain viable for at least four years from the time they are added to our catalog. Some of our older templates are still working for our customers who have chosen not to upgrade to a newer model. Most people, however, will want to update their sites with a new, more modern look and feel every two or three years. The rapid advancements to mobile browser technology will probably be your guide.

How to buy?

Each template's detail page contains an "Add to Cart" button. Clicking on the cart button takes you to our shopping cart page where you can choose to pay with your credit card or through your PayPal account.

After your credit card is approved, you will be directed to a page where you can download your template file(s). You will also receive an email shortly after purchase that contains the download link location. The link is active for about 12-24 hours, so we encourage you do download the file(s) as soon as possible.

The download file comes in a zipped format. Save this zipped file to a location on your hard drive (remember where you saved it!). It's also a good idea to make a backup copy of this file for safekeeping. For more details, visit our Help Center page.

If I don't like the template, can I get a refund?

All sales are final and no refunds will be given for software that is delivered via digital download from our site. We offer live previews of each template so you can view all of the pages before you buy. If you have a question about the suitability of any template, please contact us before you purchase. If there is a problem with one of the digital download products or if you experience any difficulty with its download, we will fix the problem.

My credit card was declined. Now what?

The most common reason a credit card is declined is that the name on the card, the billing address, the zip code, and the 3-digit code do not all match during the verification process. We have no control over how or why a card is approved or declined. Often when a card is declined, the reserve amount is still deducted from your available balance for 24-48 hours before being replaced. If your card was not approved, we recommend you contact your credit card company or bank immediately and report you encountered an AVS mismatch error during your transaction attempt. Read more details here.

I have more questions. Where do I get answers?

Getting the answers you need is easy. Just send us an email or give us a call. We try to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours or by the next business day.
