Watermarked Images

For the past several years, we have been adding a watermark to images we have purchased from 3rd party photo vendors.

The reasons for why we do this are many and varied:

  • Most image providers no longer allow designers to license images for template use. We have received permission to include only the watermarked image(s).
  • The cost for extended licensing (to allow for template use) can be up to 50 times the original image price.
  • Image licenses are not transferrable. If we license the image, the image belongs to us. If you buy the image, you have proof against any possible copyright infringement claims.
  • Most who buy a template will want to use their own photos or images rather than ours anyway.
  • You have the choice to license the template images for your own use, or we will replace our images with your own for free within 14 days of your purchase.

Use Photos that Reflect Your Business

Remember the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words"? It refers to the idea that a complex idea can be conveyed with just a single still image. It also aptly characterizes one of the main goals of visualization, namely making it possible to absorb large amounts of data quickly.

Because you only have a second or two to capture the attention of a new visitor, using imagery that is related to your web content could mean the difference between a visitor hitting their back button or staying around to see what your site has to offer.
